Galaxy S7 Outselling the iPhone 6s

Everyone knows that Apple has been reigning the Smartphone market over the years, reaping profits even when facing declining sales especially in recent years. The startling report from the Kantar World Panel confirms this statistic along with disclosing the fact that sales from Samsung Galaxy S7 have exceeded the sale of iPhone 7 and Samsung have officially de-throned the iPhone from the number 1 spot in the US. Samsung Galaxy S7 now outsells iPhone 6 in the Apple’s traditional stronghold of the US.

Lauren Guenveur, a Kantar analyst notes, “in the three months ending May 2016, Samsung accounted for 37% of smartphone sales and Apple 29%….with the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge accounting for 16% of sales and the iPhone 6s/6s Plus at 14.6%.” However the number of users switching from Samsung to Apple was still considerably very high, almost three times, than those switching from Apple to Samsung. So one can say that Apple still have a loyal customer abse.

Galaxy S7 vs iPhone 6s

However the situation is not that severe as to cause any of the two companies to start facing heavy losses. Both of them are still on the top of the list of top 10 smartphones sold in both the US and UK market. They claim the entire list and only when we expand the list to top 20 smartphones do we start seeing other brands like LG and SONY to finally make an appearance alongside the two powerhouses.

Many people however say that it is unfair to compare the sales of the two smartphones given that iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus came out way before Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was introduced in the market. We agree that in this regard iPhone sure does have the novelty factor to it but if we consider the previous sales record, iPhone have maintained the highest sales regardless when the latest Samsung Galaxy came in the market. So now when the figures clearly depicts that iPhone is facing a decline in sales we can’t help but say what other have been saying for many months: Apple has failed to reinvent itself just as Samsung is doing a great job of doing so. When this is the case, people are going to switch for sure.

The talk does not end here though. The Kantar Report further reveals that customer satisfaction of Samsung users have reached sky-high. According to Kantar,“among those intending to change devices within the next year, 88% of current Apple users and 86% of current Samsung users intend to stay loyal.” With the refined Grace UX which is destined to appear in the Galaxy Note 7 which is releasing next month, predictions are that Samsung may win over greater number of loyalists in the latter half of the year than the iPhone. Now this is some tough competition in among the two superpowers in the world of Smartphones. Isn’t it?
